Oil Pollution Cover

We have received word through a letter to the PCG that the ship-owners' insurer, the Protection and Indemnity Club and its partner the International Oil Pollution Fund, have confirmed their obligation of providing compensation to the victims of the incident. They have tasked Steven Adjusters to be the focal point for receiving all pollution damage claims arising from this incident. The P&I Club is keen to evaluate claims and make reimbursements without delay The Club and IOPC will conduct a series of claims workshops in the affected areas to facilitate the claims-making process.

The insurance for the oil pollution damage for MT Solar 1 includes:

  • Property
  • Clean-up (sea and onshore)
  • Economic losses (fishermen/mariculture)
  • Economic losses (tourism)
  • Reinstatement of the environment

    Total amount of cover is about USD 300 million
